Insurance & Billing

We are the contractor. Your carrier decides what your policy covers; we do not. What we control is the file: what was wet, what it took to fix, and what it cost. This page is how we build that file and what you can see of it.

Peak Performance Restoration is a restoration contractor. We are not attorneys and we are not licensed public adjusters. Nothing on this page is legal advice or a coverage opinion on your policy.

What we can and cannot do on a claim

Your carrier decides coverage. We build the file the decision gets made on. Peak is not on any insurance carrier's vendor program, so nobody upstream tells us what to scope or what to cut, and the scope is written to what the house needs. What we do not do is argue the claim. We are not your representative with the adjuster, we will never tell you we can get something approved, and the claim stays yours to run. What we bring to it is a complete, dated file that your adjuster can read line by line, and you see the same file we send.

What we do on the claim side

Our job on a claim is evidence and scope: proving what was wet, what it took to fix, and what it cost.

1

The photos and the first readings happen in hour one

Numbered photos, a mapped affected area, moisture readings at marked points, and daily readings while equipment runs. The file an adjuster needs is built on day one, because day three cannot recreate it.

2

We write the estimate in the format adjusters expect

Line items in Xactimate, the format most carriers work in. The adjuster reads it line by line instead of interpreting a paragraph, and every line has a photo, a measurement, and a date behind it.

3

We answer questions about our own scope

If your adjuster has a question about a line item or a reading, we answer it. It is our scope and our numbers, and we can explain both. We explain the same paperwork to you in plain language, so you know what it says before anyone else reads it. The claim itself stays yours to run.

4

We write supplements when the scope grows

On a water loss, demolition often shows more than the first estimate could see. When that happens we write a supplement as it is found, documented the same way: photo, measurement, date. It goes into the file the same day, and you see it on your job page at the same time the carrier does.

5

Billing is precise and you can see it

You get the same job page we work from in the customer portal: readings, photos, and costs as they happen. We tell you what things cost before we do them, and the claim stays in your name.

Questions we get

Is my water damage covered?

Most policies cover water damage that is sudden and accidental and exclude damage that happened slowly, and your carrier decides which one yours is. What we find goes into the file either way: numbered photos, readings at marked points, and a dated scope. That file is what the decision gets made on.

Should I file a claim before you look at it?

You can call us first. If the damage is small and clearly under your deductible, some people skip the claim. One caution: at some carriers a phone call describing a loss can be logged as a claim even if you decide not to pursue it, so before you describe the damage, ask directly whether the call opens a claim.

Do I have to use the contractor my insurance company recommends?

In general, no. You choose who works on your home. If you are told you must use a specific company, ask the adjuster to point you to the policy language that says so.

Do you bill my insurance company directly?

No. The carrier pays you and you pay us. We write the estimate in the format your adjuster works in and hand over the full documentation file, but the claim stays in your name and you approve the number.

What is a supplement?

A formal addition to the original estimate, used when demolition shows damage the first estimate could not see. Carriers expect them on water losses. We submit each one as it is found, with the photo, measurement, and date that back it.

How does the deductible work?

You pay one deductible per covered loss. It is not a separate bill: the carrier subtracts it from what they pay out, and you pay that amount to the contractor as part of the total.
